2 young women dead after crash in southwestern Ontario

A town in southwestern Ontario lost two young women in a deadly single-vehicle crash on Saturday night.

Ontario Provincial Police were called to the scene of a crash in Norfolk County just before 10 p.m. Saturday where a car had collided with a tree.

Police determined the vehicle was travelling eastbound on La Salette Road when it left the road, went into a ditch and subsequently struck a tree.

The driver and the passenger, who are from Tillsonburg, were pronounced dead at the scene.

Police issued a news release identifying the victims as Meagan Lofthouse, 19, and Brittany Wardle, 21.

Lofthouse was the driver, police said. The crash remains under investigation.
