The woman, 21, was found dead outside a home at the Nadleh Whut'en First Nation reserve at around 5:30 a.m. PT Saturday morning.
Investigators are treating the woman's death as suspicious and remain at the reserve on the east side of Fraser Lake, near Fort Fraser, RCMP Cpl. Dan Moskaluk said Sunday.
"The investigation is in the preliminary stages. There's limited information that can be released. Investigators are also working on contacting next of kin and as well canvassing in the area for information," he said.
The woman is a resident of the reserve, but police have released her name.
The Nadleh reserve is approximately 50 km west of Vanderhoof and 150 km west of Prince George along Highway 16.
