A 91-year-old has died after she was injured when a vehicle crashed into the Princeville restaurant where she was eating dinner on Sunday evening.

The driver, a man in his 80s, was pulling out of the parking lot at Chez Leli on Baril Boulevard when he said his accelerator pedal got stuck, and he lost control of the car.

The woman suffered serious injuries and was transported to the hospital, where she was later declared dead.

Five others inside the restaurant suffered minor injuries, while the driver and his passenger escaped unscathed.

The vehicle will be undergoing a mechanical examination and Quebec’s auto-insurance board (SAAQ) is expected to look into the man's driving abilities.

Police are also investigating the incident.

Quebec provincial police Sgt. Claude Denis said alcohol was not a factor in the crash.
