Cenovus Energy Inc. (TSX:CVE). Oil. Up 72 cents, or 2.34 per cent, at $31.52 on 13.29 million shares. The energy sector was up 1.05 per cent to 251.23 points as price of crude oil gained 44 cents US to finish at $94.64 per barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.
Kinross Gold Corp. (TSX:K). Miner. Down 28 cents, or 3.79 per cent, at $7.11 on 11.73 million shares. The gold sector led the losers on the main index, sliding 4.27 per cent to 230.86 points. The price of the bullion closed down US$27.90 to $1,558.80 per ounce.
Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Down $2.35, or 8.65 per cent, at $24.81 on 7.76 million shares. A Chilean court suspended activities at its Pascua-Lama mine due to "environmental irregularities." The indigenous communities complained that the project is threatening their water supply and polluting glaciers.
Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 68 cents, or 4.51 per cent, at $14.41 on 5.94 million shares.
Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Transportation equipment. Up a penny, or 0.25 per cent, at $4.09 on 5.71 million shares. Porter Airlines confirmed a conditional order worth up to US$2.29 billion for 12 of Bombardier's CS100 aircraft, options on 18 more and rights for six Q400 NextGen turboprops.
Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Gas. Up 30 cents, or 1.55 per cent, at $19.69 on 4.33 million shares.

The company announced a special dividend from the sale of its 49 per cent interest in the Frog’s Lake mine in Australia. The payment of about 24 cents U.S. per share in cash will be paid at the end of the month and is part of a plan to distribute about US$70 million from the sale.
Valeant Pharmaceuticals (TSX:VRX). Drug developer. Up 76 cents, or 1.04 per cent, at $74.05 on 316,167 shares. The company settled a patent lawsuit between its Medicis subsidiary and Actavis Inc.
