While many of the big stars are not expect to arrive until later in the week, several were greeted by excited fans at Vancouver International Airport in Richmond on Tuesday morning. One star, Shalmali Kholgade, even broke into a song for the excited crowd.
At the Pan Pacific Hotel in downtown Vancouver, where many of the stars will be staying, heightened security measures were leaving many passersby wondering what was going on.
Events that are part of the lead-up to the film awards have been scheduled in Vancouver from April 4 to 6.
The B.C. government is paying $9.5 million to bring the new awards show to Vancouver.
