RED DEER, Alta. - A warrant has been issued for a central Alberta man charged in a Canada Day collision that killed a teenage boy.

Rodney Arens, who is 35, was a no-show in Red Deer court where he was supposed to appear on six new charges.

They include failing to comply, driving without insurance and registration and failing to hold a valid driver's licence.

Arens is also scheduled to appear in court on Monday to set new trial dates for numerous charges that include impaired driving causing death.

A trial that was supposed to start last month was adjourned when Arens requested a new lawyer.

Jeffrey Chanminaraj was 13 when the vehicle he was a passenger in was hit by a truck at a Red Deer intersection on July 1, 2010.
