Manslaughter charges laid in East Vancouver street fight

A 27-year-old man has been charged with manslaughter in connection with the death of a 59-year-old after an assault in East Vancouver in February.

Police say Michael Charles Gregory and Matthew Anthony-Cook were involved in a fight at Commercial Drive and Venables Street shortly after 10:30 a.m. PT on February 9.

When police arrived, officers found Gregory suffering from serious injuries. He was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Anthony-Cook was arrested on Thursday. He remains in custody and was expected to appear in provincial court Friday morning.
