Montreal police are investigating a couple of minor incidents that happened in the city's downtown core overnight Saturday.

Authorities said they are on the lookout for a man who allegedly assaulted a taxi driver and vandalized his car.

According to police, the incident happened after two men in their twenties — who police believe were drunk — were hit by a taxi on the corner of Papineau and Sainte-Catherine streets as the bars closed early Sunday morning.

Police said a third pedestrian, who was not hit, assaulted the driver and damaged his vehicle.

One of the men who was hit by the taxi was transported to hospital as a precaution.

Police also say a 17-year-old cyclist suffered minor injuries to the ribs and head when he was hit by a car on Rockland Avenue in the Town of Mont-Royal shortly after midnight on Saturday.

Authorities said the young man ran a red light and the car was unable to stop in time.
