An 18-year-old man who allegedly asked a female motorist he pulled over for sexual favours has been charged with impersonating a police officer in northern B.C.

Raafay Shezad faces two charges each of extortion and impersonating a peace officer. More charges are being considered.

The charges come a week after Prince George RCMP received reports of a man driving a black sportscar with flashing lights, allegedly attempting to pull over three vehicles.

The suspect allegedly demanded money in exchange for not giving a ticket, and in one instance, allegedly requested a sex act from a female driver.

"The public provided information that led to us identifying a suspect, " said Cpl. Craig Douglass.

Police found a set of flashing lights during a search of a residence, he added.

Shezad has been released on strict conditions until his next court appearance on Apr. 24.
