Canadian books on whisky and Burma win international culinary awards

SAN FRANCISCO - A couple of Canadian writers were among a host of victors in the International Association of Culinary Professionals awards handed out in San Francisco.

"Canadian Whisky: The Portable Expert" by Davin de Kergommeaux (McClelland and Stewart) was named Wine, Beer or Spirits book of 2012 while Naomi Duguid won in the Culinary Travel category for "Burma: Rivers of Flavor" (Artisan Books).

The awards were handed out Tuesday night during the association's annual conference. They have been presented for more than 25 years to promote quality and creativity in writing and publishing and to expand the public’s awareness of culinary literature.
