EDMONTON - Alberta investigators say a Mountie didn't do anything wrong when an officer fatally shot a man holding a shotgun on a farm near Vegreville in July 2012.

The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team says the shooting was justified.

Police were called to the farm to check into a dispute involving a man with a gun and members of his family.

Investigators say three officers tried to get the man to put the shotgun down and surrender, but he refused.

Police say when the man started walking toward one of the Mounties, an officer fired one round, killing him.

The dead man was identified as 43-year-old Russell Skoropad.
