John Baird loses hockey beer bet to John Kerry

Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird has handed over domestic beer to U.S. counterpart John Kerry after losing a bet on which country's team would win the women's world hockey championship.

The U.S. edged out Canada 3-2 in the gold-medal game of the IIHF women's championship on Tuesday in Ottawa.

While in London, England, for the G8 meeting of foreign ministers, Baird gave Secretary of State Kerry a case of Molson Canadian, as well as a custom case of Beau’s – a micro-beer from Vankleek Hill, Ont., that's made near Baird’s Ottawa constituency.

"Congratulations to the American women for an extraordinary game,” said Baird.

The custom Beau's bottles, Baird's press secretary Rick Roth later revealed to CBC News, featured a "Congrats!" on the logo, along with a cheeky reminder to the Americans: "See you in Sochi."
