Marie Van Diest says the trail follows a railway that her daughter, Taylor, was walking along when she was brutally beaten and left for dead in Armstrong on Halloween 2011.
She says she wants to open the trail on June 11th, the birthday shared by Taylor and twin sister, Kirstie.
Twenty-six-year-old Matthew Foerster is charged with first degree murder and his father Stephen — a resident of Cherryville — is charged with obstruction and being an accessory.
A trial date has yet to be set for Matthew Foerster, who was arrested in Collingwood, Ont., last April, but he is expected to be back in court next week.
Taylor's friends and family marked the first anniversary of her death last Halloween with a candlelight walk. (CKIZ)
