Montreal fundraiser raises money for the hungry

The charity fundraiser Empty Bowls is on this weekend in Montreal and organizer Sue Montgomery spoke with CBC’s All in a Weekend about the annual event.

The fundraiser is organized by the Unitarian Church of Montreal and the congregation of Dorshei Emet to raise money for groups fighting hunger.

For $25, participants get a fresh bowl of homemade soup served in their pick from among hundreds of handcrafted ceramic bowls made by Quebec potters.

All of the money donated goes to five charities — NDG Food Depot, Multi Caf Montreal, St. Michael's Mission, Santropol Roulant and the Hannukah food basket.
