Schwabe scores 3 as Rosetown Red Wings cut down Kenora Thistles 8-0 at Allan Cup

RED DEER, Alta. - Evan Schwabe scored a hat trick as the Rosetown Red Wings blasted the Kenora Thistles 8-0 on Wednesday at the Allan Cup, Canada's senior amateur men's hockey championship.

Dean Beuker, Jason Wagar, J.J. Hunter, Mark Hinz and Shane Endicott also scored for the Red Wings (1-1).

Rosetown was helped by a 30-save performance from goaltender David Spooner.

Ryan Person made nine saves on 13 shots for Kenora (0-2) before being relieved in the second intermission by Tyler Gordon, who allowed four goals on nine shots.

Meanwhile, the Clarenville Caribous improved to 2-0 with a 3-2 win over the Stony Plain Eagles.

Clarenville trailed 2-1 heading into the third before Steve Yetman tied the game and Brad Crann scored the winning goal at 10:39.

Ryan Desrosiers also scored for the Caribous, and goaltender Jason Churchill made 30 saves.

Joel Andresen and Tate Locke replied for the Eagles (0-2), while Wade Waters stopped 25 shots.
