Saskatoon construction firm fined for safety violation which injured worker

SASKATOON - A Saskatoon construction company has been fined for violating a labour safety law.

CDK Holdings Ltd., operating as Koby Masonry Construction of Saskatoon, pleaded guilty to one count under the Occupational Health and Safety Act for failure to utilize a fall protection system.

The company was fined $12,600 in Saskatoon provincial court.

It stems from a worker being seriously injured while dismantling a scaffold in Oct. 6, 2010.

Three other charges against CDK Holdings Ltd. were stayed.

Charges against Michael Serby of Koby Masonry Construction in relation to the same incident were stayed.
