Police watchdog probes Scarborough shooting

A 23-year-old man was taken to hospital after a shooting in Scarborough that is now being probed by the province’s police watchdog.

The shooting happened just after 12:15 a.m. at 5 Wainfleet Rd., near Eglinton Avenue East and Midland Avenue. It is believed the man was shot in the leg and that his injuries are not life-threatening.

The shooting is being probed by Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit, which investigates incidents involving police where there has been a death, injury or allegations of sexual assault.
