A man wanted in a South Korean homicide investigation who fled his home country and came to Toronto recently may still be hiding out here, police say.

Ki Yeung Jaung, 42, of South Korea, is accused of killing a man in that country on Feb. 6. Police say they believe he flew to Vancouver and entered Canada the following day.

Det.-Const. Steve Walker of the Toronto police's fugitive squad said Jaung has family who live in the area of Jane Street and Finch Avenue — an area of the city with a strong South Korean presence.

He said Jaung was in Toronto recently but they aren't sure whether he’s still here.

Police were following up on a number of leads, Walker said.

An international warrant has been issued for the Jaung’s arrest, and he is considered armed and dangerous.

As part of the investigation, Toronto police have been working closely with Interpol, an organization that facilitates international police cooperation.
