Vancouver police shoot knife-wielding woman; police watchdog called in

VANCOUVER - Vancouver police say a woman was shot and wounded after she confronted officers with a knife Thursday morning.

Police say they responded to a 911 call about a woman with a knife at a home when the shooting occurred on the street outside.

The victim was taken to hospital in stable condition.

Vancouver police have asked the Independent Investigation Office to examine the shooting.

The office investigates incidents involving police in which people are killed or seriously injured.
