Stampede Roundup Concert: Def Leppard, Cheap Trick, Sloan Named To Lineup

Look Who's Playing Stampede Roundup

This year's rock-heavy Stampede Roundup concert will see many cowfolk trade in their boots for leathers, in what organizers are calling the biggest entertainment lineup to date.

Def Leppard will headline the show, which will also feature performances by Cheap Trick and Canadian rockers, Sloan.

The July 10 concert will take place at Fort Calgary.

“One of the best parts of putting this event on each year is announcing who’ll be hitting the stage,” event producer Caitlin Boyle told The Calgary Sun.

“We’ve always tried to get rock bands and, in our minds, Def Leppard is THE rock band of the ‘80s. We’ve always had a wish list and they’ve been at the top.”

Proceeds from this year's private concert will fund the The Rotary Club of Calgary's Pathways Project.

“This year we’ve committed to doing our part in enhancing the quality of life for Calgarians by providing funds to the new Pathways Project,” Rotary BBQ Committee Chairperson Rob Esch told Global Calgary.

“This multi-million dollar project will provide 138 kilometers of pathways and specialty parks circling the city.”

The Stampede Roundup concert is popular in Calgary's corporate circles, drawing more than 15,000 partiers each year.

Last year's concert raised about $225,000 for The Rotary Club, reports the Sun.

Tickets go on sale May 6.
