Fire rips through home in Sainte-Catherine

Fire heavily damaged a single-family home overnight in Sainte-Catherine, just south of Montreal.

A man and a woman were in the home at the time, but they were able to escape uninjured.

Several adjacent homes were evacuated as a preventative measure as more than 30 firefighters worked to put out the flames.

Fire officials believe the blaze was sparked on the back porch of the house, but it does not appear to be suspicious.
