New Brunswick introduces amendments to freeze salaries of politicians

FREDERICTON - The salaries of politicians in New Brunswick would be frozen under legislative amendments introduced today.

Government house leader Paul Robichaud says the move would freeze the wages of members and cabinet ministers for a fourth consecutive year.

Salary changes for politicians would match those for management and non-union positions in other areas of the public service.

The amendments would retroactively freeze salaries for members and cabinet ministers for 2012.

Robichaud says politicians haven't had a raise since 2008.
