Police blow up suspicious packages in High Park

Toronto police blew up two suspicious packages in High Park on Saturday, following an investigation that closed down a number of area roads and part of the park itself.

Police said they received a tip about one suspicious package — along a bike path off of Parkside Drive — and found two.

The Emergency Task force blew both up following an investigation.

It is not known if either package contained anything dangerous or illegal. Such detonations are standard practice when dealing with suspicious packages, according to a spokesman at 4th Division.

Roads including the Queensway, the Gardiner Expressway and Lakeshore Boulevard from Colborne Lodge Drive to Parkside Drive, in both directions, were closed. The park itself was also closed from Deer Pen Road to the southern entrances.
