Funeral to be held Friday for former Stratford, Ont., mayor Ted Blowes

STRATFORD, Ont. - A funeral will be held Friday for Ted Blowes, the former mayor of Stratford, Ont., who died over the weekend.

Blowes died Saturday at University Hospital in London, Ont. He was 76.

He had been in hospital for heart surgery.

Blowes served as mayor from 1978-88, and before that served two terms as a councillor.

The Oshawa-born Blowes was also a high school teacher for 34 years and did volunteer work for several organizations.

His funeral will be held at noon Friday at Central United Church in Stratford. (CJCS, The Canadian Press)
