'Japanese Trudeau': Shinjiro Koizumi Has Lots In Common With Justin

LOOK: Meet The 'Japanese Trudeau'
CP/GETTY

He’s the young, charismatic son of a former prime minister.

He is known for his star-power and great hair.

And despite only being in politics for a few years, some believe he is destined for bigger and better things.

No, we’re not talking about Justin Trudeau. We’re talking about the man who could be his Japanese twin, Shinjiro Koizumi.

Koizumi is the second son of former prime minister Junichiro Koizumi, who led Japan from 2001 to 2006.

A member of the governing Liberal Democratic Party, Shinjiro was elected into his father’s former seat in the Japanese parliament in 2009.

HuffPost Canada contacted Masamichi Ida, a politics professor at Meiji University, to learn more about the budding star — and how he may compare to Trudeau.

So, to mark Trudeau’s first month as Liberal leader and the launch of The Huffington Post Japan, check out the slideshow below to learn more about what they have in common.
