Police in Agassiz are searching for a purse-snatcher who robbed a woman in an electric wheelchair.

The woman was travelling on Morrow Road around 4:00 p.m. Friday, when the thief grabbed her purse from behind.

"As a result of [her purse] being over her shoulder, she was dragged out of her wheelchair and onto the ground," said Cpl. Dwayne Farlin of Agassiz RCMP.

"The suspect fled with her purse and she was left on the ground with a head injury and suffered from a seizure as a result," he added.

When she came out of her seizure, she called for help, but passersby didn't stop, police said.

The suspect is described as having a blonde ponytail and wearing blue jeans. Anyone who may have seen this incident is asked to call Agassiz RCMP.

Last May, another woman in a wheelchair was robbed of her iPad while on a Vancouver area SkyTrain.

Two people were arrested in that incident. A CBC viewer who was moved by her story bought her a replacement.
