SAANICH, B.C. - An 85-year-old man remains in hospital after being beaten during a home invasion in Saanich, B.C.

Sgt. Steve Eassie of the Saanich Police Department says the elderly man's 59-year-old daughter was visiting from out of town on Monday when the suspect forced the front door open at about 10:30 p.m.

Eassie says both of them were knocked to the ground in the living room and that the elderly man suffered bruising and cuts to his head and face.
