Cannes 2013 jury member Nicole Kidman walked the red carpet on Thursday in a dress that looked a little bit familiar.
Turns out, the off-white Valentino gown, which featured a stunning floral overlay and high neck, was supposed to be Anne Hathaway's Oscar 2013 look.
Update: A Valentino spokesperson told Us magazine that the dress Kidman wore at Cannes was not in fact the discarded dress Anne Hathaway was supposed to wear to the 2013 Oscars although they were both from the same collection.
According to reports, Hathaway was slated to wear the Valentino dress to the Oscars in February (New York Times fashion reporter Eric Wilson even tweeted that Anne was wearing Valentino), until her "Les Miserables" co-star Amanda Seyfried decided to wear a similar gown.
With only hours to go until the show, Hathaway's stylist, Rachel Zoe, was forced to find other dresses for her celebrity client, and we all know the rest of that story. (Hint: Hathaway nipples.)
Anne was lambasted for the pink Prada dress while Seyfried was generally lauded for selecting a pretty Alexander McQueen lace look.
Forced to defend her decision to wear the Prada, Anne released a statement saying:
"It came to my attention late that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans."
Do you think Anne Hathaway would have looked better in this dress?
