The event is the brainchild of Bennett Miller, an Australian visual artist, who expanded the idea after premiering it at a theatre festival in Melbourne.
Miller auditioned scores of local weiner dogs to see if they would make the cut.
The artist says he choose dachshunds to represent global leaders because of the dog breed's "racial diversity," their "link to nobility" and their "form with the tiny legs."
When asked how the performance goes, Miller said, "There's no narrative, there are no speeches, the dogs just behave however they choose to, so they bark, some of them will fall asleep."
The play runs one hour and performances are scheduled as follows:
- Friday May 24th at 6 p.m.
- Saturday May 25th at 3 p.m.
- Sunday May 26th at 3 p.m.
