VANCOUVER - Police say a cyclist is dead after she fell into traffic and was hit by a public transit bus on Vancouver's Stanley Park Causeway.

Vancouver police say the accident happened Saturday evening as the female rode on the sidewalk along the causeway, which runs through Stanley Park between downtown Vancouver and the Lions Gate Bridge.

The woman was hit by a transit bus from West Vancouver.

Police say the victim died at the scene and has not been positively identified.

Traffic investigators are speaking to witnesses and reviewing video as they attempt to determine what happened in the lead-up to the accident.

The collision prompted police to close the Lions Gate Bridge for several hours.
