Shit Harper Did (SHD), the viral collective that made headlines during the last federal election, aired a new TV ad Friday night aimed at the Conservative government's spending on Economic Action Plan ads.
The 30 second spot aired twice during Hockey Night in Canada broadcasts on CBC, pricey playoff time-slots the group was able to afford with the help of a crowdfunding campaign on the website Indiegogo. That's the same website that Gawker is using in an attempt to raise $200,000 to buy a video which allegedly shows Toronto Mayor Rob Ford smoking crack cocaine.
SHD was able to raise $76,412 during the campaign, with 15 per cent of the money raised going to the Canadian Food Bank.
The Food Bank features in the commercial, which argues that the Tories have spent millions on ads touting their economic record while Canadians have gone hungry and taken on record levels of household debt.
The ad ends with a pointed jab at the Conservatives.
"A message brought to you by taxpayers who paid for those f*&^ing Conservative ads in the first place."

This isn't the first time SHD has gone after the Tories for the Action Plan campaign.
In April, the group relaunched with new websites and YouTube ads after a long hiatus.
The April ads featured fake behind-the-scenes commentary on the controversial and costly ads. Those ads did not air on TV.
While the ads during the hockey games were undoubtedly expensive, SHD told Yahoo! News that they have enough money left over for between 20 and 100 more ad buys.
The Conservative government has been airing its own economic ads during the playoffs, a fact cited by SHD in their press release for the campaign. Global has estimated the government ad buy could easily be in the millions of dollars.
