BRANDON, Man. - The Manitoba government is increasing access to training for childcare professionals.

Specifically, 70 more childcare professionals will have access to Assiniboine Community College's workplace-based early childhood education program.

Labour Minister Jennifer Howard says the program is innovative.

She says the course is for people who are already working in childcare and they keep their jobs.

The students go to school for two days a week and their wages are covered by the government.

The Manitoba government is putting more than $2 million over two years to support the expansion of the program.
