Stacey Stewart Sentenced To 4 Years In Jail For Injuring Mom With Car

RED DEER, Alta. - An Alberta woman who purposely smashed a truck into a transformer box her mother was hiding behind after the two argued has been sentenced to nearly four years in jail.

Stacey Stewart, who is 33, will spend the next three years behind bars after getting credit for 10 months already served.

Stewart, who is from Red Deer, previously pleaded guilty to six charges including dangerous driving causing bodily harm and failing to stop at the scene of an accident.

A charge of attempted murder was withdrawn.

Stewart's mother spent three months in hospital after the crash last August.

Stewart is also banned from driving for a total of eight years and is not eligible for parole until she's served at least half of her sentence.
