Until the arrival of summer, it seems that many Torontonians forget that the city is located on the shores of Lake Ontario. Then they flock to places like Harbourfront where the lake is at their feet, along with restaurants, shopping and galleries.

1. Queen’s Quay Terminal
Spend lunch (dim sum is the specialty) at the Pearl Harbourfront Chinese Restaurant in Queen’s Quay Terminal. From the windows at lakeside, another side of Toronto is revealed. The islands in the distance draw picnickers, families headed for the rides on Centreville Amusement Park, cyclists, and beach lovers.
2. Toronto Harbour Boat Tour
Small aircraft come and go into the island airport and on a sunny day, the waters are dotted with watercraft of every description. Get a closer look by taking a boat tour around the harbour, departing from the dock next to Terminal. While you’re waiting to board, check out the Museum of Inuit Art, the largest of its kind outside Canada’s North.
3. The Power Plant
The Power Plant pushes the envelope with contemporary visual art that runs the gamut from performance art and hip hop to experimental filmmaking.
4. Harbourfront Centre
At the Harbourfront Centre, watch glass blowers create wondrous works before your eyes, expand your horizons with a workshop or lecture, or pick up an avant-garde piece of ceramic art at the craft studio. There’s always something going on, with more than 4,000 events held on-site, from the NXNE Music Festival in June, to Canada Day in July and Island Soul in August.
