Alleged Abbotsford abduction leads to arrest

Abbotsford police say a 39-year-old man has been arrested after allegedly assaulting and abducting a man and attempting to force him to withdraw funds from a bank.

The incident began around 3 p.m. PT Thursday when the victim. aged 34, was allegedly knocked unconscious and forced into a car and taken to the bank by a man and a woman.

Once the victim was in the bank he was able to tell the bank teller about his situation and staff at the bank called police.

Police then tracked the suspect back to a home on Peardonville Road, which was surrounded by the emergency response team, leading to the arrest of one man.

Both men were known to police. Charges have not been laid yet.
