FORT MCMURRAY, - Traffic is flowing again on a section of the main highway linking northern Alberta's oilsands region to Edmonton.

Mounties say Highway 63 has been reopened in both directions.

Police say although water and debris has been removed from the roadway, motorists should proceed with caution.

Earlier today, more than 30 kilometres of the highway south of Fort McMurray were flooded, resulting in the roadway being closed.

Residents in the area had voluntarily left their homes.

Highway 881 was closed because a bridge was washed out, but emergency repairs later made the road passable.
