Rob Whitworth's 'This Is Shanghai' Shows Shows Off City In Minutes (VIDEO)

WATCH: Shanghai In Less Than 3 Minutes

If Beijing is China's Forbidden City, then Shanghai might as well be their City of Light. Well, at least that's the impression we get from Rob Whitworth and JT Singh's time-lapse, "This is Shanghai".

Armchair tourists will want to take note, as Whitworth, a U.K.-based time-lapse photographer and Singh, a Toronto-born, urban-geographic explorer partner up and explore Shanghai's expansive city-scape, the notorious gridlock, and scenic boat rides across the Yangtze River. What's more, is that this is all interlaced with cuts and zooms in and out of buildings to capture the endless hustle and bustle of locals whether it be commuting, shopping or grabbing a bite to eat.

The two partnered up with Weibo, China's primary social media platform, in order to crowd source different vantage points and to compile a list of the over-riding characteristics of the city, and to secretly find access to rooftops and hidden locations.

"It became addictive for the team discovering breath-taking vantage points of the city. There was always an adrenaline rush upon reaching the top of a different building to see the vast urban jungle of Shanghai," wrote Whitworth on his Vimeo page.
