2 GTA traffic fatalities on rainy night

Police responded to two GTA traffic fatalities Monday night.

A rollover claimed the life of a woman in her 20s as she walked her dog on Thornhill Woods Drive in Vaughan.

After striking the woman, the vehicle continued off the roadway, struck several trees, drove over a hydro box then came to rest after flipping several times.

The woman was pronounced dead at the scene. The dog also did not survive.

Police described the driver and passenger of the car as elderly. They were taken to hospital and treated for minor injuries.

Police could not comment on whether or not speed was a factor. It was also raining heavily at the time. Police are continuing their investigation and have not said if there will be charges.

In a separate incident, an Oakville man was killed while cycling in Milton.

He was struck by an SUV at the intersection of Main Street East and Wilson Drive at about 9:30 p.m. There was no word on possible charges.
