"The Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Sunsprout Natural Foods are warning the public not to consume the Sunsprout and SproutsAlive brand alfalfa sprouts because they may be contaminated with salmonella," the CFIA said in a news release.
The products recalled are:
- Sunsprout 140g; UPC code: 0 57621 13501 7; Best before code: BB JUN 13
- SproutsAlive 140g; UPC code: 0 69022 00030 6; Best before code: BB JUN 13
There have been no reported illnesses associated with the products. The CFIA warning listed three provinces, but said the distribution may have been national.
The manufacturer, Sunsprout Natural Foods, is based in Brantford, Ont., and voluntarily recalled the products. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
