Island libraries are among the first in the country to become part of Freegal, an online service that lets you download music onto your home computer, iPod or mp3 player.
"It is a legal downloading music site," said Trina O'Brien-Leggott, chief librarian at the Confederation Centre Library.
"Basically having a library card allows you to download up to three songs per week and you don't have to return them,"
O'Brien-Leggott said there are more than three million songs from the Sony catalog to choose from encompassing every musical genre. They're all accessible from a link on the library's web page.
