After the markets closed, the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission gave the thumbs up to Bell's second bid to buy Astral Media (TSX:ACM.A) and its coveted suite of TV speciality channels and radio stations in a deal pegged at $3.4 billion. Empire has agreed to sell 26 theatres to Cineplex (TSX:CGX) and 20 to Landmark Cinemas in deals with a combined value of $255 million. Proceeds will be used to pay down debt. The company also announced higher fourth-quarter profits and revenue. Cineplex stock was up $1.44, or 4.11 per cent, at $36.47 on 182,190 shares.
