Petite-Patrie fire forces a dozen people from their homes

Fire crews are trying to find the cause of a fire in the Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie district this morning that forced a dozen people from their homes.

Four apartments on Saint-Vallier Street near the corner of Saint Zotique Street East were affected.

Montreal Fire operations chief Sylvain Cuillerier says the fire started in a shed connected to one of the apartments just before 4 a.m.

He says no one was injured in the fire but nine people will not be able to return to their homes.

Cuillerier says so far firefighters have not been able to determine the cause and the investigation may be handed over to police.
