Emergency officials have evacuated the 15th floor of the Bank of Montreal building on West Georgia Street in downtown Vancouver after an employee found a suspicious package and called the fire department.

Hazmat crews are on scene, trying to retrieve the package to determine its contents and origin, a spokesman for the Vancouver fire department said.

Traffic should avoid Georgia Street between Homer and Richards, he added.
