Stroumboulopoulos' CNN Ratings Improve, But Future Still In Doubt

Start Of A Strombo Comeback?

George Stroumboulopoulos’ CNN show did better in its second week on the air than it did in its debut, but its ratings in the Friday night time slot are still less than impressive.

“Stroumboulopoulos” got 303,000 total viewers for its second episode and its first appearance in its allotted Friday 11 p.m. time slot, according to Nielsen data from TVNewser. That’s up from just 192,000 in its Sunday night debut a week earlier.

Nevertheless, the growing audience is a good sign for the Canadian TV show host’s foray into American TV. Shows that see ratings slide from a weak debut episode tend to get cancelled quickly. But Strombo’s ratings suggest upward momentum, at least for now.

Strombo’s show has eight episodes left in its summer run. No word yet on whether it will be extended.
