ABBOTSFORD, B.C. - Homicide detectives could release more information today about a fatal shooting in Abbotsford that appears very similar to a gangland hit.

A man in his 20s was severely injured at around 5 p.m. Sunday afternoon and Abbotsford Police Const. Ian MacDonald says he died shortly after reaching hospital.

The victim was sitting in his car near the intersection of South Fraser Way and Emerson Street when shots were fired from a second vehicle that sped away.

MacDonald says the brazen attack is consistent with gang-related activity, but he says it's too early to tell who was responsible.

The victim's name has not been released.

Members of the Integrated Homicide Investigation Team have now taken over the case. (News1130, CKNW)
