TORONTO - Some of the most active companies traded Friday on the Toronto Stock Exchange and the TSX Venture Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (12,134.91 down 31.74 points):

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 27 cents, or 2.69 per cent, at $9.77 on 7.81 million shares. Gold sector was the leading decliner by percentage. It ended 2.80 per cent lower at 161.98 points as the price of the bullion fell US$39.20 to $1,212.70 per ounce on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Barrick Gold Corp. (TSX:ABX). Miner. Down 74 cents, or 4.83 per cent, at $14.57 on 6.75 million shares.

Iamgold Corp. (TSX:IMG). Miner. Up a penny, or 0.24 per cent, at $4.24 on 6.33 million shares.

Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust (TSX:CHP.UN). Real estate. Unchanged at $10 on 4.77 million shares. Loblaw's new real estate investment trust debuted on the main index on high volume. The trust portfolio includes 415 retail properties, one office complex and nine warehouse properties totalling 35.3 million square feet of gross leasable area.

Manulife Financial Corp. (TSX:MFC). Insurer. Up 22 cents, or 1.29 per cent, at $17.30 on 4.07 million shares.

Toronto Venture Exchange (884.27 down 1.36 points):

Apogee Silver Ltd. (TSXV:APE). Metal explorer. Up half a cent, or 14.29 per cent, at four cents on 5.21 million shares.

Donner Metals Ltd. (TSXV:DON). Metal explorer. Up 1.5 cents, or 42.86 per cent, at five cents on 2.61 million shares.

Company reporting major news:

Sears Canada Inc. (TSX:SCC). Retailer. Down three cents, or 0.27 per cent, at $11 on 15,269 shares. The retailer and its American counterpart are facing a class-action lawsuit by owners of its Hometown franchises, who allege the retailer has deprived them of the opportunity to make a reasonable profit.
