ST. JOHN'S, N.L. - The provincial Liberal leadership race in Newfoundland and Labrador could see the addition of a high-profile candidate.

Well-known St. John's businesswoman Cathy Bennett says she is considering her candidacy and will make a decision early next week.

Bennett says she will take the weekend to determine the impact a run will have on her family and what it would mean for her business interests.

She is the owner of the Bennett Group of Companies, which includes a number of McDonalds restaurants in the province.

Interim leader Dwight Ball has already indicated he will seek the leadership, while legislature member Jim Bennett is weighing his options and former legislature member Danny Dumaresque is polling on his prospects for the top job.

The deadline to file nomination papers is July 5.
