Newfoundland and Labrador's Liberal leadership race gets second candidate

CORNER BROOK, N.L. - A Liberal member of the Newfoundland and Labrador legislature is the second person to join the run for the party's leadership.

Jim Bennett officially announced his candidacy today in Corner Brook.

Bennett is running against Interim leader Dwight Ball who has already announced his intention to seek the party's top job.

St. John's businesswoman Cathy Bennett is expected to make a formal announcement next week, while businessman Paul Antle is also said to be mulling over his options.

Long-time Liberal Danny Dumaresque says he will also announce his intentions next week.

The deadline for nominations is next Friday.
