The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge’s new home will truly be fit for their future king or queen, but at what cost?

Buckingham Palace revealed renovations to Kensington Palace’s Apartment 1A have cost British taxpayers £1million so far, according to the Mirror. Upgrades have included asbestos removal and roof repairs.

‘This essential structural work needed to be completed whoever moved in. The last major works in the apartment took place around the time that Princess Margaret and Lord Snowdon moved in more than 50 years ago,’ the representative told the Daily Mail.
