Longueuil police Const. Martin Simard said the woman was forced into a car and strapped to the seat with seatbelts tied around her neck and hands.
Police said the suspect drove away with the woman, but let her go free about five minutes later because he noticed a witness was following him.
Investigators found the kidnapper's vehicle about an hour after the incident, but the suspect was not found until Saturday morning, when police discovered him hiding in a tree.
Police said the woman has minor injuries to her hands and throat and has been treated for shock.
The suspect was scheduled to appear in court on Saturday. He could face charges of kidnapping and confinement.
